For the Amendoeira Golf Resort and the Rolear Group, sustainability is a strategic factor and an unavoidable path to success for our organisation.
With a new Algarve Green Living concept, we have adopted a Sustainability Policy, reinforcing our commitment to environmental preservation and sustainable development. This initiative reflects the resort's ongoing vision to promote responsible environmental practices and embrace a greener future for present and future generations.
To this end, we are committed to:
Align our practices and operations with relevant standards that allow us to limit our environmental footprint, increase water and energy efficiency, improve waste management and promote biodiversity.
Implementing the best techniques and technologies that allow us to move towards carbon neutrality in our activities, as well as combating climate change through the implementation of mitigation and adaptation measures.

Responsible environmental practices
Adopting a waste management policy
Based on the premise of sustainability, with an awareness and education aspect, Amendoeira Golf Resort provides for an efficient waste separation system and the application of a resource control system with the aim of minimising and positively balancing the impact of waste throughout the resort.
Energy Conservation and Emissions Reduction
We will implement energy-efficient technologies in all areas of the resort in order to reduce our energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. This includes adopting renewable energy sources wherever possible. An electric shuttle and bicycles are available for guests to travel around the resort without using a car or transport. In the flats and villas, the lights and air conditioning work with the insertion of a key.
Sustainable Water Management
Conserving water as a precious resource. We will implement water conservation practices in our operations and encourage guests to participate in this effort. Committed to environmental responsibility, all rooms have a water flow controller. To address the water footprint, bed linen and towels are changed every three days. Guests are encouraged to use pool towels responsibly, with daily changes on request.
Waste Reduction and Recycling
We will implement comprehensive waste management programmes to minimise waste and promote recycling throughout the resort. We will also endeavour to reduce the use of single-use plastics by opting for more sustainable alternatives. Amendoeira Golf Resort intends to replace the use of single-use plastic water bottles with reusable bottles. We estimate that this measure will prevent the production of 1,700kg of plastic waste per year.
Preservation of Biodiversity
We are committed to protecting and preserving local biodiversity at our facilities and golf courses. This includes maintaining naturais habitats as well as promoting environmental awareness among our guests and employees.
Community Involvement
We will actively seek opportunities to support and involve the local community in sustainability and social responsibility projects, contributing to the well-being of the region where we operate.
Education and Awareness
We will invest in education and awareness programmes for our employees, guests and the community, with the aim of promoting a culture of ecological sustainability.
Amendoeira Golf Resort has been honoured with the following awards
Green Key 2024.
This award is part of the ‘Green Key’ programme, whose mission is to promote sustainable tourism in Portugal by recognising various tourist establishments that undertake good environmental and social practices, value environmental management and promote environmental education for sustainability. This initiative is the responsibility of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), based in Denmark, and is coordinated in Portugal by the European Blue Flag Association (ABAE) with the support of various national public and private organizations.

Sustainability Committed’ label
Seal awarded by Turismo de Portugal to companies that have signed up to the Tourism 360° Companies Programme, subscribing to the respective Letter of Commitment and committing to an agenda of creating sustainable value for the sector based on issuing, through FOREST - Organisational Tool for Reporting Sustainability in Tourism, a sustainability report by the second full financial year after subscription.

Save Water’ Water Efficiency Label
The ‘Save Water’ Seal is awarded to tourist resorts when they sign up to the Commitment to Water Efficiency. It is public evidence of the adoption of a set of measures by these resorts aimed at efficient and conscientious water management, helping to achieve the objectives of reducing the volume of water consumed by the urban sector by 15 per cent.
